Marriage, as intended by God is to be between 1 man and 1 woman. That being said, the California Supreme Court has shot down the law placed that defined marriage as between a man and a woman. They defined this as unconstitutional.
Well. Here it is. I don’t care what people do on their own. However disgusting it is to me, I don’t want to get into the habit of allowing the government to prohibit or condone either way.
Now. To get more to the point. I am not for gay people getting married and adopting. As God says: Marriage = a union between a man and a woman. He in fact does go into detail his disdain for homosexuality, along with murderers, hypocrites, thieves, etc. The government should not dictate who is and isn’t married. Why should we need to sign a document for the government’s purpose just to show we are married.
You see, when the government starts condoning someone’s belief it has the duty to then condone others. If gay people can get married, why not dogs? While the same folks on the streets of Sacramento are celebrating their recent “success” they hypocritically criticize the Mormons in Texas who happen to have more than 1 wife. Yes, gay people, if you are to be allowed to married, shouldn’t the whack-jobs in Texas be allowed to register multiple wives?!? Hrmm?
Anyway, this is just a rant. I realize we have more pressing issues going on, like: Will the Celtics win a game on the road!?!?!?!

The Massholes have created an unstoppable monster when the judges invented gay marriage back in ’03. But,as Christians, we need to see the truth that ultimately it matters not what the state says, for the state is under the power of the Prince of this world. It doesn’t change the fact that marriage is between a man and a woman. No legal crap can change that.
As a pastor I’m essentially an agent of the state when I do weddings and sign gov’t marriage licenses. And then send them to the state. My concer is that the state will us that leverage [of my being an agent of the state for marriage] to force pastors to perform gay unions when the time comes, because surely it will. My solution to the poss. of legal action by gay state forces would be to stop doing weddings completely, at least state recognized weddings. I would tell couple to get married at the court house and then we can have a Christian wedding service at church, with NO state involvement. Interesting times.

Far be it from me to tell you what your God teaches and intends for humanity, but it seems as though he has changed his mind at least once on marriage. The Old Testament is permissive of not only polygamy, but also of sexual slavery. Jesus clearly taught that marriage is between a man and a woman, but he also extended the definition of adultery to include not only the physical act of fornication, but merely lusting after a woman in your heart. How many Christians hold themselves to that standard?

My God is the only God. I simply read what the Bible states. While Jesus was compassionate, he certainly did not condone homosexuality.
And yes, I agree, we are all sinners. And mental lust is just as convicting as physical adultery. Fortunately, because I know I’m a sinner, I realize that nothing I can do will ever permit me to reside with the Father. Nothing. Jesus said He’s the Way. Well, that means He is.
Can you show where God explicitly permits sexual slavery and polygamy in the OT? Look, I cannot pretend to be a Biblical Scholar so maybe you can teach me something new. I have the feeling that because something happened in the OT, does not necessarily equal God’s blessing of it. Just take a look at what happened to King David when he chose to commit adultery and kill off one of his brightest soldiers.

Dan, if they start forcing the clergy to marry gay people, our country will be in more trouble than it already is. This reminds me of those idiots trying to force Pharmacists to sell the Plan-B abortion pill. Many are opposed, and some are trying to legislate the requirement of selling this. Government is nothing but a bloodsucking werewolf.

lets get practical here for a second
when you go to a Man/Man wedding….
who is the groom?
Which side do you sit on?
who throws the boquette?
worse yet, who wears the garter?
who’s side do you sit on?
All of these things need to be addressed.
On the other hand, the monogram industry is ging to fill the “His and His” bath towel niche quite possibly pulling the entire country out of recession.
But seriously…
Help is on the way in the form of a constitutional amendment that has specific language about marriage. 1.15 million signatures were gathered over a 4 month period with financial help from the Catholic church, and footwork from other denominations in the state. The Supreme Court will have to abide by this when it passes…putting the whole thing to rest once and for all…or at least till the other side starts their own petition drive for their own constitutional amendment.

Eric,
I guess my point is that we shouldn’t go to the government to get married. It just leads to stupid laws about diversity and equality.
