What’s The Story?

June 27, 2008

So I wake up yesterday morning to traffic lined down my street.  As I cruise past the suckers on my bicycle, I figure it must be an accident on Route 80 diverting the traffic down my one lane, one way, residential street.  This happens at least once a month.

Anyway, a few hours later I arrange for a transmission shop to pick up my dead car out of my driveway and bring it back to life.  You see, my Elantra has a broken clutch, and while I have the parts, I don’t have the patience to be on my back for 12 plus hours in the hot sun working on something I have little knowledge of.  I finally decided this is a job best left for the pros.

He gets my address and states the car will be gone within the hour.  Then he calls back.  “Isn’t your road still closed because of the cop shooting that occurred last night?” WTF?  Oh yeah, I guess around 2 in the morning their was some sort of car chase, cop pulls over a 21 year old local boy, fills him with five bullets, and the kid subsequently drives his car into a neighbor’s picket fence crashing into their above ground pool where his left dead with buckets of blood all over the place.

Great.  Without knowing all of the details, what seems like a routine traffic stop may have turned into a cop overreacting and filling a kid with lead.  From what everyone has said, he was a good kid with a clean record visiting home to see his kid brother graduate high school that same afternoon.

Folks, this is why I do not trust the police to protect us.  Because, you may catch a cop on a bad day, and you might just be his last straw.

The Green Fad

June 24, 2008

Why can’t I read about technology without stumbling upon articles about “going green” these days?  A site I have enjoyed for some time has gone from technological informant to greenvangelist in the last year or so.  It is to the point of total irritation.

I want to geek about the latest CPU developments, or how MS Vista is a resource hog.  I don’t care if a PC distributor is now using recycled cardboard boxes to offset their C02 footprint.  Because the underlying message from these sites (and one in particular) is that those who disagree with global warming and drive SUVs are idiots.

Well, I mostly ride a bicycle to work.  If I cared about “environmentalism” I’d frequent sites that were dedicated to environmentalism.  And I wouldn’t expect them to spend a majority of time spitting out articles related to upload speeds and piracy issues.

Yes, I understand those that write the tech. articles tend to be young and “hip”.  It is indeed “hip” to go green right now.  Stupid fads fade, but this one seems to be hanging on a little too long.  And the amount of ignorant statements postulating global warming as man-made are out of control.  Simply put, these “authors” (puppets) are the modern day equivelant to the ancient flat earth society members.  Throwing science out the door, they simply rely on a gore and a wink of theories to prove their point.

Tiring.  Very tiring.  I have been arguing against the man-made global warming theory for years.  We have credible meteorologists and climatologists decrying it, yet the naysayers simply cover their ears singing “lalala…lalala…lalala”.

Please, give it a rest.  Let us discuss the issue of Apple’s ongoing assault on open source technology, or how Novell is no longer a playmaker in the industry.

Good Mosh I Had

June 23, 2008

Living Sacrifice was on.  Wow.  I felt like I was still in High School or something.  They played nothing but old songs, and it was like they didn’t take the last 5 years off.  They definitely stole the show.

The rest of the bands?  Not so good.

It Figures

June 20, 2008

I’ve been waiting to go to the Living Sacrifice concert for months, and now I am sick.  I have about 30 hours to get better.  I’ve been fighting this cold all week, and today I am feeling at my worst.

I don’t want to miss the show.  I rarely get a chance to go out anymore and this is going to be a fun man’s night out.

17 – Long Time Coming

June 18, 2008

17 finally came.  Forget all the superstitions about the number (June 17, etc…).

Anyway, now I can sleep.

Go to bed early.

Get more exercise.

Stop neglecting the family.

Just Win it Tonight!

June 17, 2008

I’m tired.  I can’t take anymore late nights.  Please.  Stupid NBA scheduling.

5 Years Now?

June 17, 2008

What has it been, like 5 years since I last saw Living Sacrifice?  That all changes this Saturday.  The best metal band will be coming to nearby Allentown, PA.

Unfortunately, the Mrs. will be skipping this one.  It will be fun, but it won’t be the same.

What is wrong with this picture?

Close Up!!

I don’t remember, but she may have taken this one herself.

Taxi Girl

Here she is driving a taxi.  She loves these rides.  Kind of a waste of money, but they make her smile.

Puddle jump!

She is the destroyer of all puddles!

Celtics – Lakers Game 1

June 6, 2008

Ok, I spent 3 hours watching that game. 2.75 of these hours were spent anxiously waiting for the Celtics to either take it away or the Lakers to pull out ahead. The third quarter was one of the best quarters I have seen in NBA history. With Pierce apparently out the rest of the game, he comes in like Muhammad Ali entering the ring, and he was ready to fight.

The crowd. The crowd! They were so pumped it was electrifying. When the Truth walked in Jackson quickly called a timeout to try and tamper the crowd and the energy on the court. Garnett pumped a fist in the air yelling “Yes!” the place was hopping. The naysayers are claiming this to be an act. We’ll see. If Pierce does play but only as a shadow of himself, they’ll shut up. Hopefully, he isn’t seriously hurt, and if so, the other big men can step and lead.

What fun. The stupid video promos and TV timeouts really drag the game out. I can’t maintain staying up until 12. Hopefully we only have 3 more games to watch.
