Lately I’ve been thinking about careers. More accurately, I’ve been thinking about what I would like to do for the rest of my life. I’m not so sure it is in technology. The problem is, I really have no idea what it would be. I love music, but I don’t feel my abilities are enough to warrant a job that pays enough, if anything. I also don’t really know where my skills and abilities lay.
Some people seem to plan their life out and follow it to the smallest of details. My life hasn’t been that way. Sure, I set out to become a systems specialist (and here I am) when I was a newlywed with the ultimate goal of working in music. Other than that, I am not making the desired amount of money (though I am blessed, trust me), and it hasn’t been the smoothest ride.

when I was a kid, my father and I had this conversation:
Me: Dad, when I grow up I want to play the guitar.
My dad: Son, you can’t do both.

Eric,
That is great. I guess a part of me hasn’t fully grown up yet.
