Trust the Lord, oh my soul!

March 24, 2009

Woke up this morning, and foolishly started the day with Drudge Report, instead of God’s Word. Immediately, I was accosted with the headlines stating that both the Kremlin and Beijing are planning some sort of international monetary system to erase the US Fiat currency system. Obama wants even more power to seize control over firms, and the madman of N. Korea wants to a launch a satellite.

This world is insane. Then I finally turned to God’s Word. Exodus 14:1-18. God purposely places his people in a vulnerable position against the sea and surrounded by mountains (I believe, didn’t research what Migdol and Pihahiroth were, actually).

Pharaoh saw the perceived weakness of the Hebrews and pursued them.

God states, I will fight for you, and you will hold your peace.

In spite of their grumbling and antsy complaints, God reassured them. God protected them.

We all need to trust God, because He knows what he’s doing.

Well done, Mr. Schilling

I for one, will miss Curt Schilling in the rotation. Sure, he was a loud mouth who didn’t hesitate to express his opinion.

That is probably why I will miss him. As you get to know me, you’ll realize I share those traits.

He promised to bring the World Series back to Boston, and he fulfilled that promise. Twice.

The bloody sock will go down as one of the greatest moments in baseball history. Period. The man was a mule that carried the team on his back during the 2004 ALCS.

Good luck in your new life, Curt. God bless you.

No Coincidence

This is today’s Bible verse of the day on my iGoogle:

1 Timothy 4:1 – Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

Very interesting, because at church, we’ve been going through the book of Acts.  Last Sunday, the pastor spoke about the wolves in sheep clothing.  Some come from the outside, some from within.  Paul warned against such men who seek to devour the sheep.

The scripture continues:

2Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

3Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

I think we can name a few organizations that encourage such practices.  Sadly, the great denominations of yore have become rotten to the core.  When a group of “believers” can debate about whether it is right to allow gay clergy, that church lost the way years ago!

4For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:

5For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

Word of God and prayer.  Two of the basic duties that help keep a Christian from falling away.  Those are our fences that keep us sheep from wondering too far from the Shepherd.

Remember, no matter how lost you are, God, the Good Shepherd, knows where to find you and how to bring you back home.
