Is Conservatism Dead?

November 5, 2008

This may spell the death of the GOP as we know it.  For years, we have allowed the neoconservative movement run things, and frankly, people were fed up.  Since most of the left believes Bush is representative of true conservatism, they swung more socialist by electing the most liberal senator.

Congratulations, GOP, you may finally be on your way back to your libertarian roots.  It will take years of infighting and grassroots movements, but I hope and pray this spells the death of the neocon super power.

Am I worried about our president elect?  No, not really.  Sure, the man is for breaking the necks of newborn babies, but he will have to contend with God with his decisions.  I pray the man starts reading some non-socialist literature, embraces Austrian Economics, and shrinks the fed.  Fat chance.  Maybe after four years of an Obama presidency, Americans will tire of the liberal wings of the Republican and Democrat parties.

You see, we had our chance.  Ron Paul.  Here was a man of sound economic and diplomatic principals.  A man who warned us about Fannie and Freddie and the implications of government sponsored enterprises.  Unfortunately, the media stifled him, and the neoconservative establishment ridiculed him.

Fortunately, he’s not done.  Just go to http://campaignforliberty.com/ and sign up.  Start to bring real change to this country.

Walk at lunch

November 4, 2008

I took a walk at lunch today.  This really helped to clear my head.  I’m not too concerned about the election, because the two main candidates are not appealing to me.  I really hoped that by now, the Christian right would be through with the Republican party, but apparently they’re not.  I guess McCain knew what he was doing when he chose Palin.

I like Palin, but I don’t think she’ll be an influential VP.  She won’t be like Dick Cheney, that is for sure.

I ran into no lines this morning when going to vote.  The entire process was simple.  I wrote in Ron Paul.  Maybe we’ll see a man like Ron Paul in the White House years from now.  For now, I believe we’re in for some fun and socialistic times!

“Ron Paul is wrong!!”

October 3, 2008

Said a fellow co-worker as we debated the bailout.  His feeling is, if the government does nothing to prevent Wall Street from crumbling, we are all screwed.

Right.  And if Ron Paul is wrong, why has he been right for so many years?  Why did he predict the fallout of a weak market system because of government OVER regulation and a cheap dollar??

Sure, my co-worker wants change.  He has hope.  He is hopeful that Obama will be able to straighten out this mess.  Nope.  You can count on more regulation with him or McCain.

My co-worker is a smart guy.  He understands systems and technology better than most.  He has no understanding on economics.

Don’t worry, the bailout will pass.  And then what?

House to Bailout: No.

September 29, 2008

Today is a good day.  For once the government worked.  They voted down that stupid Bailout bill.  Sure, there will likely be more attempts at passing this, but the liberals and their socialists ways can eat crow for a day.

Boy, does he seem excited!  Ron Paul is the man!

My First Coin Shop Visit

September 29, 2008

I visited my first coin shop this past Saturday. We have a little extra cash, and not knowing much about coin investment, we decided to stop at a local shop.

I don’t know if this is typical of every coin shop, but the owner had a variety of collectibles along with coins, such as baseball cards, Americana memorabilia and random toy trinkets.

I was hoping the owner would be able to engage in economics, but he stared at me blankly when I explained myself as a new member of the Austrian School. So, while the shop was interesting, and he seemed to have some interesting and rare coins, he did not give me much hope as a future investor.

Fine, I explained to my wife. We are so new at this, that it will take sometime for us to get our gearing, so to speak. While we didn’t purchase any coins, we did become just a little bit more informed regarding the collection and investment of metals.

We can’t afford gold. What with the price of gold nearing $1,000.00 an ounce, but we may be able to invest in some silver. We would like gold, though. Had I known 7 years ago what I know now, we’d have a good collection of gold bullion coins.

In the meantime, I’ll try my best to learn more about this form of investment. While it is the metal boom time, it is because our fiat currency is finally dying. That is a simple statement with serious repercussions.

While we left the shop without even purchasing a Silver American Eagle, we did begin to think about preparation. We are in the process of obtaining a chest freezer so that we can bulk up on meats and other necessities. We have an area in our basement reserved for canned goods, and household necessities, so if the economy has a true crash, we’ll at least be fine for a few months.

This is not me being a paranoid libertarian. This is just sensible thinking. Our cost of living is lower right now, then it will be in a few months. Plus, it pays off to buy in bulk in the long run, as you spend less time going to and fro the grocery store, which uses gas.

I think I’m starting to become frugal. We are trying to make it a game to see how frugal we can get. While I am riding my bicycle to work, my wife has grown plenty of vegetables in the garden. Instead of buying coffee at Dunkin Donuts, I use the cheap free stuff at work. We switched from disposable diapers to cloth. Believe me, this is a huge savings. And my wife is determined to breastfeed as long as possible, so this saves money on formula (which is horribly expensive).

To end, I think it is time we all lived more sensibly. I personally have a history of living above my means. I think my family will be better off if we live under our means.

Liberals Land Grab

June 3, 2008

Here’s an example of a town taking private property (or at least attempting to) from a wealthy capitalist right outside Telluride.

The Colorado Supreme Court today ruled that parks and open space are so important in Colorado cities have the right to condemn property – even outside their borders – to prevent development on land officials want for the public. Here.

Colorado is a beautiful state. Unfortunately, I believe it has become overrun with a bunch of transplants from California, Oregon, and New York. The owner of the property (again is outside the town line of Telluride) proposed building some houses on 64 acres of his property and then giving the rest to the town for preservation purposes. Some local wealthy residents (liberals) want the land for their own purposes and opposed his idea.

So, the Co Supreme Court, (lined with the liberals’ money, obviously) decided that the 600 acres that this gentleman owns belongs to the town.

This is what you get folks. When you vote for crooks and liberals, you get a bunch of land-grabbing hogs set on stealing everyone’s hard earned wealth. Speaking of hogs, they must run things like Boss Hogg. After all, he was all set on stealing Uncle Jesse’s land more than once.

Blanking the IRS

April 15, 2008

I’m going to be sending out a check tonight to the IRS.  Yay.

Please excuse me if I seem a little cranky.  It is never fun giving away my hard-earned money to money grubbing bums.

Yes.  Liberals.  You get what you vote for.  More taxes = less commerce.  Figure out the simple math logic.  Less taxes = more money to give to charities of worth.

On my way to drop off the check, I’ll also be voting NO on raising the town school budget.  No thank you.  The public school system has no concept of budgeting, and does not deserve 15 or 20 million more to go into.  My property taxes are already at astronomical levels, that I cannot afford the township to come around to reassess them at a higher rate.

Now, if Americans would get rid of the “gimme, gimme” attitude that they hold, we’d probably be a thousand times better off.  Instead of electing do-nothing politicians that sit around boasting about their yachts out on the cape, maybe we should abolish their salaries and elect people that actually want to serve this country for the betterment of it.

If most of us took the example of the government, we’d all be out on the streets.  You can’t live beyond your means accruing more debt.  On the same token, when you gain more debt, this does not give you the right to go and steal your neighbor’s hard earned cash.

I say start by ridding ourselves of the following programs and institutions:

Department of Agriculture
Department of Education
Drug Enforcement Agency
Homeland Security
War on Drugs
War on Terror
State College and University Funding
FEMA

And, we should move the capital to Indianapolis or some other mid-western state.  Washington D.C. is at a point of no return.

Ron Paul Accepts Nomination

April 1, 2008

In an unprecedented move, John McCain has stepped down from the Presidential race, citing his age and need to spend time with his family.

“My son is about to graduate from the Naval Academy, and that being said, I have decided to concentrate on the finer things in life”, said the Senator from his posh Arizona homestead.

“Reality begins to sink in. The dollar is at an all-time low, and we are strapped for cash because of our overspending. I realize that I am not the man for this job. I humbly hand over my support to Dr. Ron Paul, and trust that most Americans will begin to see the light.” “Ron Paul is a man of strong conviction that opposes the Patriot Act, Real ID, and this unjust quote>War on Terror</quote.”

Ron Paul is set to appear on a nationally televised conference at 11:59 PM EST 4/1/2008 from his campaign headquarters in Texas. Early statements are that he will humbly accept the Republican Nomination for the 2008 Presidential Election.

Meanwhile, Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh have switched parties claiming this to be an outright infringement on their rights to oppose the Constitution. In today’s broadcast on Rush’s radio show, he has finally come out and admitted his love for Hillary Clinton, and his strong admiration for her thighs. Hannity is going for Obama, for “he is the Great White hope”.

Troops are already returning home from all corners of the world. The dollar skyrocketed to an all time high. Federal Reserve executives have been found lying around the grounds of the Eccles Building in Washington DC, in apparent mass attempts at suicide. Fortunately, the building is not a high rise, so only minor injuries were reported.

More news after tonight.

Celtics Sweep the Texas Triangle

March 21, 2008

Celtics had a hard but very successful road trip out in the Lone Star State. They beat the Champions, knocked down a long winning streak, and had a thriller in Dallas.

I have to say that this is a very impressive team. With three stars on one team, they are all proving to be generous. This team is just fun to watch. I hope that, like the 80s, they can keep the magic going for a long time.

It would be nice if, like the 80s, we actually had a good president.

Stand Up And Fight!

March 14, 2008

Everyone, repeat after me:

“We are in a recession.”
“Our government is too big.”
“We don’t really follow the Constitution.”
“We are creating wars.”
“Our dollar is at an all-time low.”
“The price of oil is at an all-time high.”
“Major investment firms are going broke.”

So what should we do? I think we need to kick out our current government. We are about 30 years overdue for a Revolution. The ride we are in for is not a quick and easy one. Since we have a generation of baby boomers that cared not for the future generations, we have serious issues that are not easily resolved. It is time to stand up and fight.

Look at the current Election race. Why are we so intent on allowing Hillary, McCain, or Obama take control? What difference will they make? None. Actually, it may seem impossible, but they will only do more damage to our nation. Stand up and fight, brothers. Enough is enough.

I am glad I have a God who never forgets His children. So if in 10 or 15 years, we are a 3rd world country, I will have peace that God will watch over my family. If in the next few years, I have to stand up against the oppressive government, I know that through God, I can do it. God is no respecter of men, and that is something all Christians should take to heart.

We must stand up and fight. Fight the good fight for our children’s sake, and their children. The world has its idea of what life is, and we have ours.

I am concerned for us. I love our country, and have traveled throughout most of it. I know the struggles the average American faces. While the middle class is disappearing at an alarm rate, the government and elite pile on more burdens. Some is our blame. We need to stop the credit cycle, and request real money. We need to read the fine print and not expect the government to help us out when we can no longer afford our house.

At the same time, we need the government to not take us, as citizens, for granted. They need to realize that the money printing, and insane spending is going to stop. They need to know that their very jobs are on the line.

Who is with me? Again, this is not for the weak. We need the strong and bold to come against this beast and bring the monster down. Otherwise, the longer we wait, the harder it will be, and eventually, it just may be. Too late.
